Nintendo Switch Pro

What you need to know about the Nintendo Switch Pro

The Nintendo Switch Pro has been around a lot lately, especially over the last year, and many have been waiting for it to arrive, with updated specs and features. And indeed there will be some upgrades in the new one that are worth a look. So it’s worth taking a closer look at the functionality.

When is it worth waiting for?

After the introduction of the OLED version, there have not been many questions regarding the Pro anymore. And the company is also keen to offer the player, something updated. This isn’t surprising, as games are getting more realistic over time, so hardware upgrades are needed.

Some statements from the company’s representatives make it clear that the new version should be expected as early as the beginning of next year, but there are also those who are more pessimistic. But there’s still no clear timeline, so we’ll just have to wait.

We just have to note that the Nintendo Switch Pro will be more expensive than its predecessor, but not by much. On the territory of America such a gadget costs around 300 euros, as for the Pro, here the amount can go up to 400 euros.

Let's talk Nintendo Switch Pro

Hardware specs

Some reports also give an insight into what the model’s specifications might be. First of all, it is worth highlighting the presence of an updated Tegra processor. In addition, the brand may also apply SLSS technology, which provides higher resolution. At the moment, the processor generates graphics in 720p.

There are rumors that the future model may have a TEGRA X1+ processor, which opens up more opportunities with higher clock speeds. But the cooling system will also be an order of magnitude better. But we should expect some changes in the design as well. The OLED panel will remain and will offer 4K resolution in the docking station.

There is also some talk that there could be an introduction of mini-LED as well. As it is more affordable, while the quality will be better. But there’s not much scope for this option yet in this area, so it’s worth being sceptical of this information.

As the CEO of the company says, OLED has its advantages as well as disadvantages. Much depends on the content the user is playing. Of course, if it’s a modern game with a lot of white, it will also require more power.

64GB SSD

This information has not been officially confirmed at the moment either, but there is a possibility that there will be more memory. And it’s also worth highlighting a number of new additions:

  1. Performance. There have been some issues in this regard, and now the manufacturer has taken a different look at the capabilities to run demanding games and with better frame rates. This will allow individual games to make it onto the platform.
  2. Quality build. This includes improved ergonomics as well as better controls. All this is to make the updated version really better.
  3. 4K support. This has been mentioned before, and such formats are indeed a plus.
  4. Bluetooth. This point deserves attention now because the company is offering a feature with limited capabilities. Given that there are plenty of wireless headphone models on the market today, this is really important.
