Crime Game Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven

The action takes place in the United States of America, in the 1930s. Location – the fictional city of Lost Haven (the prototype of the city was such megacities as Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and other capitals of the US criminal world of that time). The main character is Tommy Angelo, who lost his no deposit bonus in the company, he gets a job as an ordinary taxi driver. He calmly delivers passengers, and, it would seem, he does not plan any changes in his life. But after an unexpected meeting with two bandits, everything in his fate changes dramatically. Tommy becomes a member of the Salieri mafia fraternity and gets a dangerous new “job”. However, illegal activities are well paid.

Years have passed, Tommy is now a full-fledged member of the mafia clan, and is already carrying out serious and increasingly responsible assignments. His path is thorny, he has moments of glory and times of disappointment. He becomes a witness and executor of criminal cases, he himself becomes a smuggler, takes part in assassination attempts on criminal bosses, in bank robberies and in chases along the avenues and narrow alleys of American cities.

Tommy embarked on a criminal path as an ordinary “six”, but over time, through trial and error, he received his dose of trust from the head of the clan, Don Salieri. However, over time, the hero is disappointed in the “family”. Faced with deceit and betrayal, he understands how low the friendship and life of every person, even his “colleague”, is valued among the mafiosi. In the end, he betrays his “colleagues” to an FBI agent …

In short, “Mafia” is not even a game, but a real mafia epic that immerses you in the criminal life of America.

The place of the game action is a huge virtual world with beautiful city views, where there are picturesque, but gray and shabby buildings of criminal districts and cheap dens, the mere sight of which is disgusting.

Game modes:

• Basic mode

Here, the player controls the hero Tommy and performs a variety of tasks for Don Salieri. Here you go through a difficult path from a simple gangster driver to actually deputy chief mafia boss. The player participates in the “protection” of the business, fights with other mafia clans, destroys the “rats” in the “family”, steals cars, etc. In addition to standard tasks, there are additional missions to steal cars. Upon completion of missions in this mode, you have the opportunity to play in the “Walks” mode, and if you complete the game completely, the “Big Walk” mode will become available.

• “Walk”

The hero moves freely in space, explores virtual reality without completing any tasks. Here you just move around the city streets. After completing missions in the main game, you get the opportunity to use some settings, for example, you can choose the time of day and where the hero will appear. This time mode takes place before the last events of the main part of the game.

Tommy moves on those vehicles that were “opened” by him in the main part. He works as a taxi driver, and also earns money by committing crimes – speeding, blowing up cars, killing competitors. He spends his salary on paying fines, repairing a car, purchasing weapons, refueling a car, improving health, etc.

• “Big walk”

Here the player also roams the streets freely and completes 19 short assignments. After passing them, you can get 4 racing and 20 “fancy” prize cars for use. On some models, you can earn money as a taxi driver in the “Walk” mode.

In this mode, there is almost no need to perform “combat” actions, in connection with this, the hero has only 1 pistol with an incomplete set of ammunition. Access to the mode appears after the end of the last episode of the main game.

• “Racing”

This is a reworked racing challenge from the episode “Fair Game”. It is possible to select a car, track, number of race attempts, etc. In the original computer game, the mode was cut and it remained only in the version for consoles.

In general, the game is a realistic shooter with a third-person view and a partial simulation of driving cars during the Prohibition era in the United States. At one time, this creation of the Czech company Illusion Softworks, released in 2002, acquired a cult status. This action-adventure received pretty good ratings from numerous critics.
