Demon's Souls

Demon’s Souls on PS5

The predecessors of this game have a rich history, but now we’re talking about an updated version. Initially it was said that this game wouldn’t become popular, as it’s too unconventional. But when the demo-version was released, and it was only for limited categories of users, it became clear that the game was going to be a success.

But first things first, let’s talk about image quality. Everything looks incredibly beautiful and realistic, so we can say that this is the first page in the history of the new generation of consoles.

The game features a souls-like mode, and by taking a snapshot, it’s clear why everyone is praising the graphics so much, everything looks even better in stats. Of course, if you compare it to the graphics on the PC, demanding players might find flaws. But in essence, it’s all immaterial. During the game all the details are worked out to the smallest detail and this applies to every location in the game.

In performance mode, the game runs at 60 FPS. And some may feel some differences only because of the TV, if it does not support the 4K function, there is almost no difference.

Enemies and locations deserve special attention. Of course, the latter aspect is straightforward, as everything is up to modern standards, detail has been improved and lighting has been improved.  And the natural light on certain areas is pleasing to the eye.

Demon's Souls game review

As for the appearance of the enemies, the manufacturer did a good job here too, making some bold decisions.  Bosses always look stylish, and Demon’s Souls is no exception. Some of them are radically redesigned and modified, of course, for the better. So in that respect, players are happy with everything.

But as this is a remake of the game, there are a number of unresolved issues that need attention. Even though the game’s gameplay is not very different from each other, there are some differences. But you can’t say they are significant. For example, the game now has the ability to tumble diagonally, but this is reminiscent of the gameplay standards of 2020. Of course, if you do a more detailed parsing, there could be an order of magnitude more problems.

Gameplay

Demon’s Souls has 5 playable locations that are divided into their own zones. But going through it all can be chaotic. And many people notice that the enemies became weaker, they have a small arsenal of weapons and not a very good level design.

Overall, the advantages of the game include:

  1. Quality graphics.
  2. Intelligently designed locations.
  3. revised boss and enemy models.

But there are also some downsides to be aware of:

  1. Weak mechanics reminiscent of 2009.
  2. Not the best dragon combat.
