Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord

New Mechanics of Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord

From the moment this game appeared on Steam, it simply tore up any top game and pretty quickly cemented itself in first place. It has sold over 2 million copies. The series actually appeared back in 2008, but no one could have expected such a take-off. But you have to study it all and see just how cool this game is.

Of course, it makes no sense to start the game in multiplayer, especially if the user is not familiar with the gameplay features. So it’s better to pass the campaign and learn. Initially, the user can choose from 6 cultures, which have their own lore and additional bonuses. Some can move faster through forest terrain, while others gain more experience in battle.

And already when selecting a playable character the detail is highlighted, everything is very realistic, even the body hair. And the customisation is all over the place. When creating a face, there are several pages for each part. Of course, if you don’t like that option, you can put everything by default.

The extensiveness of the editor here is really astounding, as you can customize not only the appearance, but also choose the origin of the parents and the backstory of the story. That is, the gamer determines the set of starting characteristics and how the main character will look.

The plot says that the family wanted to move, but on the way they were attacked. The parents were killed, while the younger sister and brother were taken prisoner. But it was only after a while that the protagonist and his brother were able to escape.  And the player himself determines in the menu how the hero is saved, it can be a rebellion or archery, which adds certain characteristics.

And after that you can choose the difficulty of the game. Here, too, there will be several options settings:

  1. Damage.
  2. Recruitment difficulty.
  3. Movement speed.

What’s inside?

During gameplay, the user is not faced with hints and other extras. There are only textual dialogues, even without voice acting.

In terms of mechanics of battles, even in comparison with the classic RPG, there are a lot of differences. You can attack and block attacks in one of 4 directions, and here it is important to understand everything at once, because in battle it will be difficult. There really shouldn’t be any complications, because everything depends on the camera rotation. But in archery the control is classic, which is very popular with many players.

Difficulties sometimes arise in the fact that during the battle you need to give orders to your squad and not just fight yourself. There are various tactical manoeuvres and formations in the game, which makes gameplay initially difficult, but ultimately more interesting.

But it’s best not to try to fight your opponents at the “realism” difficulty level at the beginning of the game, as a couple of pokes will be enough to kill you. You need either a skill or a tactic to win the battle, even if the main character gets killed.

Multiplayer

If you take this mode, and here there are options to choose from:

  1. Capitan. This is a medium-sized battle in which 6 players on each side control their squad.
  2. Skirmish. Playing in teams of 6 on 6.
  3. Siege. A large-scale battle, where there can be a total of 120 players.

Of course, the last option is particularly popular, as it is a meat grinder, dynamic and often unpredictable.

On the siege itself, i.e. the last game mode, you can figure out the controls quicker. But death is initially unavoidable.
